DOT Exams

For certain employers, if their employees are labeled as “safety-sensitive” by the Department of Transportation (DOT), then these employees are required to have regular physicals. At Dr. J Chiropractic & Wellness Center, located in Nitro, WV., Dr. Jay McClanahan offers DOT physical exams for $60. We also offer DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.

When you go in for your physical with Dr. McClanahan, you need to bring a complete list of your medications. This has to include the dosage regimen, dosages, and the doctor's name and address. If you have vision or hearing problems bring in your glasses, contacts, or hearing aid devices. For diabetic employees, you must bring your most recent lab results and blood sugar logs. Employees with heart-related issues must bring in a letter from their cardiologist. This letter must describe their medical history, current medications, and if they are safe for work.

Your vision, hearing, blood pressure, and urine will be tested at the examination. During the physical segment of the exam, a variety of things will be checked, around a dozen. Things like your lungs and chest, mouth, general appearance, and neurological features. For certain jobs, certain results are needed. For drivers, they must have at least 20/40 acuity in each eye.
